I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was wondering what all is required to get setup? I’m
assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty
penny? I’m not very internet smart so I’m not 100% sure. Any suggestions or advice would be
    greatly appreciated. Appreciate it

Aha, so unetbootin doesn’t work in this case. Is this why I get some shit after finally going through all the trouble? I’m gonna give it one more try with Universal USB Installer ( the only other option available) and if it fails perhaps move on to something that works. WHy do the Arch Linux instructions recommend using unetbootin?

What it does is buncha errors similar to the post below ..something about waiting for 30 seconds to find sd or so something…and then drops me into somekinda demented shell with no way out other than hard reset pushing the power button. One would think linux would evolve since the 90s when one actually had to compile own kernels, rather than become some unusable madness.

Universal USB Installer uses dd. I just used it and the same error – archiso can’t be found. The initial screen was different.

You have to rename the actual USB drive according to the Arch ISO you are using. For instance, I used the ISO dated 2011.05.23 so I renamed my memory stick to ARCH_201105. This should solve the TTY error.

    Ciao!

How bizzare: in order to install this ArchOne, a linux must be installed already for there are no instructions on installing it with WIndows XP… On to something useful and working.

There is a solution:Step 1.Burn a Ubuntu linux CD (or create usb) and boot it.Step 2.Install Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat) alongside Windows.Step 3.Burn a ArchOne CD (again,or create USB) and boot. Then install Archone.

Could you please tell me if ArchOne is compatible with the Acer Aspire One 721 ? I have been dying to use Arch Linux but I can’t seem to be able to configure it …. So I looked around, found ArchOne, but I am still a little scared of trying it out because I can’t find any apparent confirmation that it is compatible with the ao721 netbook . D:

If this helps, my processor is an AMD Athlon II Neo Processor K125, LAN card is Atheros, and the WLAN card is Broadcom .

    Hi Daniele,
I have a problem after yesterdays update (it was kernel update if I remember right). After plugging a pendrive and clicking on it in Nautilus I have a popup error message saying “Unable to mount XXX. Not authorised”. I can mount using a terminal, but it is a bit annoying to do every time I stick a pendrive. Do you have any ideas on how to solve it? Thanks!

I’m having issues installing arch. After selecting “ArchOne” from the menu it goes and eventually stops me and says waiting for boot device to show up /dev/disk/by-label/ArchOne I had this problem when trying to install the stock arch image and changed the label of my usb drive (which at the time was ARCH_201005) and it worked. But i cant change my usb drive to ArchOne, instead it automatically changes to ARCHONE. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I downloaded archone_openbox_2010.8 and installed it in ao150.When i tried to upgrade it says files is missing for all packages listed in /var/lib/pacman/local directory.

error: could not open file /var/lib/pacman/local/xorg-font-utils-7.5-2/files: No such file or directory
    xorg-font-utils: 0 total files, 0 missing file(s)

The above message comes for all the packages…

pacman database corrupted. probably the problem is the size of the root partition. if it is less than 4 GB, the script of the setup may not have copied all files :)

Looking for a some replacement for a factory-set WinXP for my AOA150 I’ve found the ArchOne and been very impressed with it descriptions. But some details still unclear for me:

    - Can I install a “bare” Arch (“CORE” if I remember right) and then install an ArchOne “feature set” as a some AIO package set?

    or

    - Can I install an “old” ArchOne (2010.04_Gnome) and then upgrade its “netbook-specific featureset” — update initscript, netbook-kernel etc. etc. — i.e. apply the all changes described in a next ArchOne release(s) changelogs?

Hi there. Wonderful work! I love it so far. As you may have guessed, though, I have an issue.

I’m not sure what’s causing it but I can’t seem to update with yaourt as it says in the README. Any idea what might be causing this? It can’t seem to find any package I ask it to install. Thanks!

    • December 7, 2010 at 12:47 pm | #34

Hi, to update the system try

      sudo pacman -Syu

      for search, pacman -Ss package,

to install a package, sudo pacman -S package

Hey dude. Thumbs up for this. I’ve been looking for a distro that would give my AOA150 some extra speed and this seems to be it.

    I’m having some troubles though..

I’ve tried a 16GB Sandisk USB memory formatted with FAT32.
I made a bootable disk with unetbootin but it seems as there’s something wrong with syslinux.

Arch usb disks don’t work with unetbootin. You must use dd as suggested in the website.
      Cheers!
