my netbook is zg5, which has 1G ram and 160G HD.

The live USB runs well, except in Italy key. I was able to reset it to US.

Sudo /arch/setup did well. I actually changed nothing just used default for all selection.

When grub was loaded, I selected the first one, sda.

    Reboot would not start.
    “Grub” on the screen. Freeze.

I have been using your distribution for some time now, a year or something like that and I love it, more with every new release. But I have encountered a problem with my right hand card reader. I read some info about problems with it, but all the solutions were for BIOS before 3309. I have 3310, I even added pchiehp to modules section in /etc/rc.conf, but still nothing. When I insert the card nothing happens. I don’t remember having any problems in previous releases, but I also don’t remember using it, so… :) Any ideas Danielle?

    Thanks

      Hi

I’ve tried on my aspire: also my right card reader doesn’t work.

But I haven’t problems with the LEFT card reader, simply load these modules:

      sudo modprobe pci_hotplug
      sudo modprobe pciehp pciehp_force=1
      sudo modprobe memstick
      sudo modprobe mmc_core
      sudo modprobe jmb38x_ms
      sudo modprobe sdhci
      sudo modprobe sdhci_pci
      sudo modprobe mmc_block

and open nautilus –no-desktop (or thunar.. or other file manager..) and the device appears.

Sorry but I have no idea the reason for why the right reader doesn’t work.
And sorry for bad english ;)

        Thanks Daniele,

the thing is that I have never encountered any problems with left card reader. I even have a SD card put there all the time which is my /home directory. It is always additional 8 GBs to my 8GB SSSD :)
But I did follow your instructions and something funny has happened. After writing all those commands right card reader started to work :) So, I have added all the modules to /etc/rc.conf file to see if it works. It turned out that it doesn’t. After a couple of attempts I found out that only module I need to make it all work is pciehp. So I added it to rc.conf. Nothing happened. But if I start the system and type sudo modprobe pciehp pciehp_force=1 in terminal when the system is already running I make right card reader to work just perfect!
Second thing is, when I put the card into slot before I start the system it is also visible. I can then unplug and plug it into slot and everything is just like it should be. Only difference and problem I found out is that I have had a mount option in fstab which looked like this:
        /dev/mmcblk0p1 /home …
and when I put the card into right slot when starting the system, it became mmcblk0p1 and the one ine left slow became mmcblk1p1, so I had to change fstab to work with UUID. Not a problem though.
So, do you have any idea why right slow works when I type that command (sudo modprobe pciehp pciehp_force=1) after the system is started, but when it is in /etc/rc.conf and /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf it doesn’t?

        Thanks

Hello, I owned an AAO110, I already wrote the image on the my 2GB USB,
however it shows the following error in the black screen when I try to boot with USB:
    ISOLINUX 4.02 0x4c480c04 EHDD Copyright (C) 1994-2010 H. Peter Anvin st al
Unknown Keyword in configuration file: пu?ïT$
No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found!
    boot:

How can I solve this problem?

Try to check the md5sum (or my gpg/pgp signature).
If it’s correct, probably the problem is the usb device (pheraps it’s not compatible with the boot).
You can check it by run the iso from a virtual machine (you can use virtualbox).

There are many people who are unable to boot from the stick, unfortunately there are some usb device that can’t boot.
Also my own usb device sometimes has problems starting.

      Let me know

As I don’t know which USB is suitable for boot, I wrote the image on a DVD+R and it works.
But after the install, it just show a black screen.

I meet a big problem now…I try to reinstall the Linpus but it stop in the partition selet process…
Even I use the ArchOne DVD, it just show the linux version in a black screen and cannot get into the login screen.
It seems everything stopped when my AAO try to reed the partition…
There maybe something wrong when I erase the HD with ArchOne.

you can use the arch linux iso instead of ArchOne, which arch linux iso starts directly to init 3 … then use the “cfdisk” tool for the partitions

      • August 28, 2010 at 9:45 am | #11

size of the root partition? if it is less than 4 GB, may not have copied all the files.

        • August 28, 2010 at 3:33 pm | #12

I used the Windows CD to format the partition.
It is weird that the Linpus and Archone still stop before the partition selet process.
I do some trys, when it stopped in Linpus screen, I use the ArchOne CD instead of the Linpus CD.
I don’t know what happen but finally the partition selet process started to work.
I just put the Linpus back to the CD-drive to finish the installation.

My ONE is a 8GB SSD, I haven’t do any partition.
